At Back to Earth we believe in fiercely protecting childhood. A fleeting, yet precious time in our lives when expectations of performance are low and there is ample time for exploration, observation, trying new things, and simply just being here.

For this reason, our Kindergarten program is intentionally play-based. Abundant time outdoors exploring in a natural environment allows children to develop the physical capacities which are essential precursors to academic learning.

The children will enjoy a home-like environment grounded in simplicity and rhythm, allowing for the natural development of social skills, as well as everyday skills like preparing a snack, keeping our things tidy, and taking care of ourselves and those around us. Songs and stories are treasured components of our curriculum as well. We will introduce letters and numbers as opportunities arise organically. For instance, “let’s count how many cups of water we will add to this mud pie.”

We strive to offer a space which allows each child to flourish in their own way, and at their own speed.

Kindergarten is open to children ages 4-6.

During these play-based classes we will aim to spend all of our time outdoors. The children will enjoy abundant free play, nature walks, nature-based crafting, and even learn some primitive survival skills. We will be doing outdoor cooking, fort building, tending to the chickens, and tending the garden

Come enjoy the company of other parents/caregivers and their little ones. Support your child’s development while receiving an introduction to the Waldorf approach to early education.

In the parent-tot program children freely play in the space as Leigh Patton shares and discusses the art of parenting, creating rhythm, as well as childhood development.

Seasonal songs, stories, and an organic snack with tea are part of the weekly experience.

Open to ages 0-4 with caregiver

This program takes place on Thursdays from 10am-12pm
